Report title
Electric Pulse Irradiation Assisted Sol-Gel Precipitation of TiO2 Nanoparticles
Date and time: 8:30-9:20, 13th, June, 2014
Address: 4th-floor meeting room of Fangyuan South Building
Speaker: Prof. Marjatta Louhi-Kultanen
Abstract:
Clean water is a prerequisite not only for a healthy life but also for many processes in numerous industries. Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) Chemtech conducts research and development in the treatment of waste water, raw water and process streams. The main research areas are in particularly challenging wastewater treatment processes in the chemicals, forest and mining industries, and for applications in the food and pharmaceutical industries. Research has focused on energy-efficient separation technologies, chemical analysis and water management issues. For example, LUT developed a new type of oxidation process to achieve 70% energy savings compared to conventional methods of ozonation. Further main objectives of many research projects of the department have been the minimization of water consumption and the more efficient use of process water through recycling. Prof. Marjatta Louhi-Kultanen will give a presentation about the research progress in her lab and a brief introduction of LUT will also be included.
